Colmello di Grotta
The winery was founded in 1965 by the will and passion of Luciana Bennati, who in a short time managed to restructure the abandoned old and dilapidated centre of the business, fully respecting the local tradition, creating a cellar for ageing and ageing in barriques, and another cellar of rational and advanced technology for wine-making and storage.
The property, now run by Dr. Francesca Bortolotto, who nurtures the same passion as his mother, covers an area of more than 21 hectares, 15 of which are vineyards and the rest has remained as woods. A curious and interesting fact is that 40% of the winery revolves around the Collio DOC area and the remainder around the Isonzo DOC area, consequently producing different wines, due to the sudden changes of land structure in such a short space.
The winery, which is currently converting to biological, makes use of the sound advice of oenologist Michele Bean.
